AGM Date announced: 25th February 2014

Please put this date in your diaries to come along and help support / set out the direction for your Club this year.  The AGM is open to all members and is an important forum for all of the club to get together and work out how we want the club to run, organise the diving for the year and elect Branch Officers.  Please attend if you can!

18th Feb:  Persian Food night.  Arsham has very kindly offered to cook for the club an extravaganza of Persian food.  Personally Persian food is one of my favourites so I highly recommend attendance.  The price for dinner is still to be confirmed but will be between £5 and £10 per head.

IMPORTANT: During the recent compressor servicing water vapour levels were found to be high. If you have used the compressor to fill your own equipment since May this year you may wish to drain down the cylinder and have it checked for moisture. The compressor is now back in service and has passed all necessary tests.

11th Feb: Scouts try dive night – Catherine Jenkins.  These nights are an evening of great fun and also good earners for the club, with the added potential of the possibility of new members as this one is being opened up to parents of the scouts as well.   Please contact Catherine directly if you are able to help in the pool (AI, DL or above) or on the side with logistics and kitting the kids up, everybody can get involved in this!

Training Weekend: New Sports Diver course starts the weekend (18&19th Jan).  Intro DL lectures 1+12 are also available this weekend.

Pool Benefits:  Don’t forget over the winter that we have the pool!  It is there for training diving, swimming and splashing about! A great way to get into shape for next dive season!

Photos

Please can people send Mark Purchase photographs taken on dive trips as he is writing up our entry into the BSAC 60th Birthday competition.

Bar Team

As you all know we have been operating a bar rota over the last few years with various degrees of success. I am keen to get a dedicated bar team of say 20 people who can take it in turn to work behind the bar. Two people would work per evening which means that if we get 20 people you would only work a maximum of 5 evenings a year. If you think you can spare 5 evenings a year please give your name to Nikki Turner so that she can draw up a rota.

EQUIPMENT:

Pacer Marine

Pacer Marine is a local company based in Aldershot, they are responsible for all the servicing and maintenance for both of our ribs.

They have offered to display some literature within their shop and discount our bills by 25% if we ‘like’ their Facebook page.

Equipment Sale

The Equipment team (Mark and Phil) have spent the last two Tuesday evenings having a damn good clear out and tidy up of the boat shed.

They have identified lots of diving equipment that the club will never use but is taking up valuable space.

There will be an equipment sale at the club on the 10th December (next Tuesday). All of the equipment is in good condition and is usable. It’s not junk, we just want the space in the boatshed.

Woking Adventure Group

Woking Adventure Group will be storing some of their equipment in the boat shed over the next few months. This is only a temporary arrangement, but please, if you borrow any kit for the pool or a diving trip, can you double check with Mark and Phil that the equipment that you are borrowing belongs to Guildford BSAC and not the Woking adventure group.

That’s all folks!
